SPS La HuaycaS.A., consorcio formado por la empresa alemana Saferay GmbH-especialista en el desarrollo de grandes plantas fotovoltaicas- y la firma chilena Seltec, puso en funcionamiento la etapa final de la planta fotovoltaica SPS-La Huayca S.A., que inyecta una potencia de 30 MW al Sistema Interconectado del Norte Grande (SING).El proyecto, ubicado al sureste de Iquique, en la comuna de Pozo Almonte, localidad de La Huayca, Región de Tarapacá, contempla un total de 50 hectáreas e incorpora 124 mil paneles solares para llegar a generar 60GW/h, en uno de los sectores con mayor radiación solar de Chile. La iniciativa considera una inversión de US$67 millones, financiados por el IFCy podría abastecer a potenciales clientes del norte, como las mineras.
The Company
SPS La Huayca S.A., consortium made of the German firm Saferay GmbH –specialist in the development of large photovoltaic plants – and the Chilean firm Seltec, started the first stage of the SPS-La Huayca S.A. photovoltaic plant, which injects 30 MW of power to the Norte Grande Interconnected System (SING). The project, located southeast of Iquique, in the Pozo Almonte commune, town of La Huayca, Tarapaca Region, contemplates a total of 124 acres (50 hectares) and it will incorporate 124 thousand solar panels in order to generate 60 GW/h, in one of the sectors with the highest levels of solar radiation on Chile. The initiative considers a US$67 million investment financed by the IFC and it could supply potential northern clients, like the mining companies.
