MRP Geotermia Chile Ltda. es una compañía filial de la generadora y distribuidora eléctrica Mighty River Power de Nueva Zelandia, una de las más importantes empresas del rubro, con reconocida experiencia en el mercado de la energía geotérmica, así como también otros tipos de producción de energía eléctrica. La empresa destaca por tener el proyecto geotérmico más avanzado en el centrosur de Chile, mediante el desarrollo de una concesión de explotación en el volcán Tolhuaca (entre las regiones de Bío Bío y La Araucanía). En dicha zona, a 2.000 metros de altura, se han realizado prospecciones y perforaciones de pozos de producción profundos que han arrojado auspiciosos resultados sobre el potencial de su reservorio geotérmico, lo que permite proyectar la construcción en los próximos años, de una central generadora de, al menos 70 MW de potencia instalada, que inyectará energía eléctrica limpia y sustentable al SIC. La compañía también tiene otros proyectos en etapa de exploración, entre los que destaca la concesión denominada Puchuldiza Sur 2, en la comuna de Colchane, Región de Tarapacá, el que se estima como uno de los reservorios geotérmicos de mayor amplitud y calidad de los que se tiene conocimiento en el país.
THE COMPANY:
MRP Geotermia Chile Ltda. is a subsidiary of the electricity generator and distributor Mighty River Power of New Zealand, one of the largest companies in the country with vast experience in the fi eld of geothermal power generation, as well as in other types of electricity production. The company stands out for having the most advanced geothermal projects in central-southern Chile, through the development of an exploitation concession at the Tolhuaca volcano (located between the BioBio and La Araucania regions). In said area, 2,000 meters high, the company has conducted exploration activities and drilled deep production wells, which have shown excellent results regarding the potential of its geothermal reservoir, which allows projecting the construction of a geothermal plant of at least 70 MW of installed power that will inject clean and sustainable power into the SIC. Additionally, the company has other projects in an exploration stage, the most important being the Puchuldiza Sur 2 concession, in the Colchane commune, Tarapaca Region, which is estimated to be one of the largest and best geothermal reservoirs in the country.
