DESCRIPTION:The International Energy Agency will host an embargoed press webinar for the launch of its Electricity Market Report 2020 on Friday\, 11 December 2020\, at 14:30 Paris time. \nThis is the first ever Electricity Market Report produced by the IEA. Designed to complement other reports in our Market Report Series – which cover energy efficiency\, renewables\, coal\, natural gas and oil – the new report focuses on developments in the world’s electricity markets amid the global Covid-19 pandemic. \nThe pandemic has reminded us that electricity is more indispensable than ever for modern societies. The new report includes analysis of key 2020 trends\, as well as 2021 forecasts for electricity demand\, supply\, capacity and emissions – both globally and by country. \nElectricity Market Report 2020 addresses the following questions and more: \n\nWhat will happen to global electricity demand in 2020 and 2021?\nWhat happened in the electricity markets of the world’s major economies such as the United States\, China and Europe?\nHow is the strong growth in renewables affecting the shares of coal\, gas and nuclear in power generation?\nWhat are the IEA’s expectations for electricity markets after the shock of 2020?\nWhat will be the key trends in 2021?
